From the South East Trials Combine; 7th March 2007
I would like take this opportunity on behalf of the combine to thank Alan Ketley, retiring Chairman, and Penny Strudwick, retiring Secretary, for all the hard work that they have put into the combine over the years that they held their positions.
For those of you who were not present at the meeting Jim Connor is the new Chairman and Steve Westley the new Secretary/Treasurer; Dick Dickenson agreed to remain as Vice Chairman, Peter Donaldson as Assistant Secretary and Roger Abbott as Recorder.
Jim has stated that as Chairman he wants to steer the combine, during 2007, through an updating of our rules and the setting out of some minimum standards for championship trials. This should allow the riders to have the confidence to enter events knowing that each trial is run in the same format without any surprises.
In that respect we do require your club to let us know any suggestions about new rules or the tweaking of existing rules that you would like to see in our centre. In order to allow you to do this those clubs who may not have access to the SE Centre Handbook 2000, the current rules for trials have been set out on the new combine website www.SouthEastTrialsCombine.org.uk and your suggestions/proposals can be emailed back to me stephenwestley@ntlworld.com , or sent by post, and they will be collated and put together as a proposal for all clubs to comment on at our next meeting. Include any minimum standards that you would like to see as well. Proposals as they come in will be posted onto the website so that anyone is able to view them prior to the meeting.
If any club that does not have internet access requires sight of these rules I can send a copy in the post if you let me know.
This consultation between clubs and your committee will continue through the year and a final version will be voted on at an EGM before the dates meeting (or even earlier should we reach a quick consensus) in time to allow for the revised rules to be in place for the start of the 2007 season.
I have also enclosed copies of the minutes from the AGM and the meeting on 22nd Feb as well as a request for payment for your clubs subscription to the combine for 2007. I propose to utilise the email system as much as possible to speed up communication for minutes and enquiries so if you have an email address please let me know so that I may add it to the email group.
Our next meeting is on the 19th April 2007 at The Forman Institute, Blindley Heath starting at 7.45pm and your items for the agenda need to be sent or emailed to me by Monday 16th April to enable me to sort out the printing.
I look forward to receipt of your cheque and to see you at the next meeting and if you have any question in the meantime, just ask.
